چکیده

ABSTRACT In the late 1970s big bang model of cosmology was widely accepted and interpreted as implying universe had a beginning. At end that decade William Lane Craig revived an argument for God known Kalam Cosmological Argument (KCA) based on this scientific consensus. Furthermore, he linked to supposed biblical concept creation ex nihilo found in Genesis. I shall critique Craig's position expressed more recent update argue contemporary no longer understands ultimate beginning, seriously undermining KCA. will further contend book Genesis should not be understood describing anyway.

On the Kalam Cosmological Argument

This paper examines the Kalam cosmological argument, as put forward by William Craig. Craig infers the existence of a personal God from the supposedly finite past of the universe. The temporal finiteness of the universe is based upon philosophical arguments for the presumed impossibility of an actual infinity of past events and is confirmed by two lines of scientific evidence. The arguments aga...

Cohen on the Kalam Cosmological Argument

Yishai Cohen raises three related objections to the kalam cosmological argument . Firstly, Cohen argues that, if the argument against the possibility of an actual infinite, which is used to support the kalam cosmological argument, is sound, then a predetermined endless future must also be impossible . Secondly, Cohen argues that the possibility of a predetermined endless future entails the poss...

The logic and metaphysics of possibility and necessity have proved to be a fruitful and rich area of investigation. Cosmology – the study of the universe as a whole – has matured and gained respectability. The notion of causation has taken...
